Sa soeur Lalita, quant à elle, tient tête à sa mère : elle ne se mariera que par amour.Lors d'une des nombreuses fêtes extravagantes offertes par les Bakshi et leur voisin, Lalita rencontre Darcy, le meilleur ami de Balraj. Il a tout pour plaire ou presque... Ce bel hôtelier n'a que deux défauts : il est américain et fiancé.Si Darcy tombe immédiatement sous le charme de la belle Lalita, les sentiments de celle-ci sont plus mitigés...
